FAQs

1.- Evaluation criteria

These are the evaluation criteria to be used by mentors for each #innovationagainstthevirus project.

The deadline for project evaluation (online forms) until May 7th.

Each criterion will be scored from 1-10 (1 being the lowest score and 10 the highest). These days, e-mail is being sent to each mentor so they can evaluate:

1. Originality of the idea
2. Is it a real need?
3. Does the product meet the need?
4. Market size and target market
5. Income / traction of the company
6. Growth of the company
7. Advantages compared to your competitors
8. Entry barrier size
9. Income generation plan
10. Training / work experience
11. Quality of the videopitch

2.- Next steps for mentors.

1. As of April 24, the #innovationagainstthevirus organization has sent an e-mail that will serve to connect and inform mentors and projects. In this document the mentor will have to fill in the box with their information and the project members with their metrics. When the mentor completes their data, the project members will agree with them to make the corresponding video calls.

2. From April 24 to May 6, mentors and project members must have at least 2 video calls with each project of at least 10 minutes each.
The project members will contact the mentors independently in the period from April 24th to May 6th with the aim of carrying out the mentoring period. If they consider it appropriate, they will also be able to make a group video call.

3. Once the mentoring phase has been completed, including these video calls, the mentor will go on to evaluate the project. Each mentor will receive the links to the online project evaluation forms. The deadline to carry out the evaluation will be until May 7.

4. Once the evaluation of all the projects has been received from the mentors, the winning projects will be decided, which will be announced on May 11, 2020 on the initiative’s website.

3.- Next steps for projects

1. Fill in the missing information in the shared document about your project.

2. Once the mentors have provided their contact information in the shared document, the project members will contact them in the period from April 24 to May 6 in order to carry out the mentoring period, define the hours of video calls as well as the system for video calls (skype, hangouts …).

4.- Based on which criteria are the projects awarded?

The projects have been assigned to mentors who shared the same modality and had one or more technologies in common, each project having mentors from different fields (scientific, legal …).

5.- What is the role of the mentor?

The role of the mentor is to advise projects to contribute their vision as a professional and advise them on the next steps they can take.
In addition, video calls will help the mentor in the subsequent evaluation of said project.

6.- Are the meetings with the experts to receive your mentoring one by one or all at once?

The project members will contact the mentors independently in the period from April 24th to May 6th with the aim of carrying out the mentoring period. If they consider it appropriate, they will also be able to make a group video call.

7.- Deadline extension

Due to the great success of the initiative and the high volume of mentoring we have decided:

1. To extend the deadline for the mentoring process until May 6th.

2. The deadline for project evaluation (online forms) until May 7th.

8.- Do I have to send a new video pitch once I meet with the mentors?

We think it’s a great idea but due to the large number of projects in the initiative it would be impossible for us to review them all in time.

9.- What happens if I cannot contact one of the mentors/Project Members?

In case that you are still unable to contact any of the mentors / project members, please contact us at innovacionfrentealvirus@startupole.eu and we will try to contact them in order to carry out the mentoring process.

10.- Does the assessment affect that you were unable to connect with all mentors?

If you have been able to contact us with any of the mentors and therefore they have not evaluated you, nothing happens, this does not affect the evaluation, so you will not be harmed when choosing a winner.
